First day of summer and I am stuck at home sick. I have broken two streaks unfortunately: going to work everyday and staying healthy. I managed to go to work for over a year without calling out sick. Quite an accomplishment for myself. I was shooting for two years but sadly it was not to be. Last year I manged to go all year without getting sick. How I managed that I have no clue. This year I've gptten sick two times so far. First time was in January and well, now. I'm hoping this will be it and I will be good to go.
Aside from my ailments, I managed to squeeze in a nice little weekend. Saturday we played our last game of the regular season. We'll be starting our playoffs soon. We tied 1-1. Not bad for my team considering when we started we were always in last place. Today we are in a happy second place. We should be in first but the team who holds the spot (Lightning B) is totally shady. Our league has 3 divisions: advanced, intermediate, and beginners. Stone Roses (my team) plays in the beginners division and Lightning B should be playing a higher division, possibly advanced. They're players are all skilled and experienced with the exception of one broad. They actually played in intermediate last season. I have no clue why they moved them down but it doesn't seem right. Either way we're still in a good spot.

Saturday we also started Mr.Andrade's father's day celebration. Unlike me he didn't require much other than staying home, watching movies and ordering pizza. We were all quite happy with that. I gave him his gifts which he seemed pleased with. I however wasn't. I still would like to get him some more stuff. I don't think I could top my mother's day but I can try.
Sunday I started going down. My body felt achy and I felt totatlly out of it. Luckily I managed to shew away whatever monkey virus was trying to attack me. Mr.Andrade and I woke up and went to have breakfast at my parents' house. I wanted to see my dad and give him his father's day hug. I wasn't going to be able to be there all day because we had company from North Cali coming down to visit. We managed to squeeze a second visit once the family from up North arrived.
Mr.Andrade's cousin Ester and her hubby Nate we're in town and fortunately for us, made a pit stop at our place. We decided to take them to Roscoes! Ester and Nate had never been so we figured this would be perfect! I thought Long Beach Rosces would be best since it has a bar inside. I figured it being fathers day weekend it would be packed. I was right. The wait didn't seem too bad thanks to the booze. It seemed like we were quickly seated. With the exception of Mr.Andrade we all ordered the Carol C. Special. That's one of my faves. It's a chicken breast with a waffle. Which is all I need when I go there. Some people go there for the chicken but I think I go there more for the waffles. Don't get me wrong the chicken is delish but I love me some waffles! Mr.Andrade opted to go with the Country Boy, 3 wings and an option of a waffle, fries or mashed potatoes (I think) he got fries. To drink I suggested they get the the Lisa's Delight. A Lisa's Delight is basically an Arnold Palmer. Lemonade and Iced Tea mixed together. Pretty damn good stuff if you ask me. Everyone seemed to enjoy the dinner. It's Roscoes! Who wouldn't!?

I love taking out of towners to the fancy spots. Ha! |
By the end of the night my monkey virus came back and I was done. I tried to suck it up so we can take Ester and Nate out. We wanted to take them to a bar but they seemed comfy. Good eats and drinks will do that to you. It was lazy mode time and we were all loving it.
Did Sam like Roscoe's? i love me some chicken and waffles. seemed like you had a lovely father's day (minus the illness).
ReplyDeleteWe didn't take her this trip because we figured it would be too much for her. She can't sit still for a long period of time. She's a hyper one. She stayed w/my parents celebrating with her Tito. She does like it though. She likes the "pollito" and biscuits. Father's dad was nice indeed. I still have to finish my shopping but am stuck at home sick. Bleh.
