Waiting for John Legend & Sade. |
The long awaited Sade concert (with special guest John Legend) finally arrived! I had been waiting for this concert since last year and it finally came!! Mr.Andrade was even looking forward to this show and boy was it worth the wait! I remember us constantly saying August! Ultimate date night!
I had arranged with my mom to babysit Sam for the evening. She's usually the designated sitter when Mr.Andrade and I have our date nights. We had made dinner reservations before the show at Katsuya. Neither of us had ever been there but had heard great things about it. Turned out to be true. Dinner was delish! We had some house drinks, I don't really remember what they were called I just remember the server saying they had a fresh taste. They did. We had edamame and miso soup for starters and sushi for dinner. We managed to squeeze in dessert. Unfortunately I also forgot the dessert name. It looked like the bottom was made out of buñuelos (Mexican fried flour tortilla usually coated with cinnamon) but it was folded like a cup. The inside had granny smith apples and ice cream. It was very tasty. I would highly recommend this spot.
After dinner we walked over to Staples Center, bought our merchandise and walked over to our seats. We had floor seats not too far from the stage. I didn't realize how close our seats were until John Legend came out. I nearly fainted! He opened up with the Adele song "Rolling in the Deep" and totally blew me away. It sounded magical! He played a few of my favorite songs. Being that we has the opening act he obviously couldn't play a full set but he did play the ones that had sentimental meaning to me and Mr.Andrade. There was a part during his performance where he had a female audience member go on stage with him. It was during the song "Slow Dance" and I nearly freaked! I started screaming "OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!" Mr.Andrade was so embarrassed. After the dance John Legend tells this whore bag (yes, I'm hating) that he had a gift for her, everyone in the audience is quiet anxiously waiting to see what it is. Everyone except me. I yelled out "No way!" and instantly heard the giggles and chuckles around me. Mr.Andrade just smiled and put his head down. He ended his set with "Greenlight" and graciously thanked the audience as he exited the stage.
Sade's entrance was elegant and graceful. She opened up with "Solider of Love" while walking up from the bottom of the stage. I'm not sure if that makes sense or not. Sade looked gorgeous! It really seems as though Sade doesn't age. She looks the same! She still has that killer trademark smile and sounds as graceful as ever. I felt as though I had heard her voice for the first time. She did most of her hits and a few of the songs from her new album. She had 4 wardrobe changes and ended her show with "Cherish the Day." I had seen Sade once before 10 years ago and had the worst seats ever! This time around I knew I wanted to get the best seats regardless of cost. I'm glad I did. She made every single penny worth it AND sang one of my favorite songs "All About Our Love" which she didn't sing at her last show. I think is probably one of the best shows I've been to in quite sometime. Everything was so perfect. Every time somebody asks me "How was the show?" my response is always the same. Amazing.
I forgot to mention our fail moment. We forgot our camera! We had to make do with our camera phones and they were not doing our seats or the concert justice. Due to that major fail I have no pictures from the show. Sorry guys.
